Serving the community for more than 35 years
The History of WARM
Waller Assistance and Restoration Ministries, Inc. (WARM) is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) Texas non-profit charitable corporation founded in 2005.
WARM was formed by merging two long-standing Christian outreach ministries in the Waller area, the Waller Pantry and Closet (1986) and the Mission Closet (1985). Historically, the Christian community in the Waller-Prairie View area was challenged with better ways to serve those in need. Pastors, church staff, volunteers, and other organizations often found themselves making assistance decisions regarding the needs of individuals and families without having the time or staffing to evaluate the situation entirely. Many congregations simply did not have the resources to help those outside their church families.
The merger fulfilled the desire of all concerned to cooperate in a Christ-centered approach to providing assistance and restoration for those in need. After much prayer and discussion with similar organizations inside and outside our community, the consolidation of this effort now greatly benefits those in need in the Waller area. WARM serves the needs of our community through the efforts of those who desire to communicate Christ’s love through acts of giving and serving.
The ministry is based on two core services; Client Services and Resale. Client Services encompasses numerous programs, including a food pantry, financial assistance, volunteer/community service opportunities, vouchers/gift cards, referrals, and other special programs and partnerships (e.g., Toys for Tots, Thanksgiving dinners, Meals on Wheels, etc.).
The WARM Treasures thrift store sells gently used clothing, furniture, books, music, and other goods; it also provides a donation drop-off location. It is a great place to shop for that unique item or to supplement your home or wardrobe. Proceeds from the thrift store go to paying administrative costs, so donations, grants, and other funding can go directly to WARM’s Client Services programs.
